powerstretching carpet

I recently had my entire house carpeted. The first installers did not use a power stretcher. The second crew sent out was instructed to use the powerstretcher in all rooms. For a fact I know that the furniture was moved to one side of a room and the carpet was stretched. However, the opposite side was not stretched. This was the living room. The dining room was not touched. Is it possible to correctly stretch the carpet without moving furniture? Does not the entire length and width of the room need to be stetched?
