We purchased a Neptune washer in Sept 2000. Immediately after we purchased we noticed that our clothes always smelled. We ran bleach through the washer etc. We had the smell in our clothes. We went to Home Depot and discussed bringing the washer back and they told us to leave the door open after washing. This seemed to help. We continued to wash clothes with Bleach to get rid of the smell. Three years later here we are with a washer that quit working and we contacted a repair man from Sears and he knew exactly what was wrong as soon as he opened the top of the panel on washer. Control board and lock assembly burnt out.( $550.00 repair on a $ 900.00 machine. This is unacceptable for the Maytag people. We contacted the Maytag people and they said that we should have purchased an extended warranty. They also said this was not a common problem. When we asked about parts they said the lock was not in stock. We talked to three different Maytag people and we had heard three different responses. The other two responses aside from the response above were a discount on the parts, and the Maytag repair man said that he had 12 last year and three already this year. What do we do????????
