Is this a Custom handicapped bathroom designed around the abilities of one individual.......
Or more of a Universal design concept providing adjustable / adaptable design.........?
Some 'thinking' points would include:
......Lever faucet handles for ease of operation....including safety over-temp protection
......Rear draining sink bowls to clear seated legs and footrests
......Wall-hung Sink/Open vanity/appropriate height.....and mirrors hung at Lower than normal for a seated view...
......Taller toilet 'stools' and if necessary....Bidet.......Provide additional plumbing here for "emptying/washing" pans and jugs here.......
......Shower Room Suite w/floor drain OR curbless shower stalls for use with rolling shower chairs.......Personal-Shower heads on hoses....anti-scald valves
......Tubs require a hydraulic "lift"......additional support is needed within the floor/framing/tub-deck-surround
......provide handrails and grab bars where required......
.......The handicapped often require some extra heat.....Radiant electric ceiling heat is nice.....don't make the ceiling Too High or the room is always cold..........
.......Light switches and GFCI outlets placed within CODE but chair-accessible......consider motion-sensor control for general room lighting
......Closets and open-plan dressing rooms that adjoin the bath are a plus
