Carrier Gas Furnace

Quite likely you'll have to change the thermocouple. A new one generates around 30 millivolts, when heated. They are cheap to purchase, and can be found at most hardware stores, (like Home Depot, or Sears, etc..). check for the length of the thermocuople-(probably 24-30 inches).

Another item, watch how the pilot flame hits the thermocouple. The tip of the thermocouple should be more than 1/2 inch in the flame.

Check the air filter while you are at it.
