I out guessed it. I opened the little box above the interior switch. Has a up/down or toggle switch. Down is operate, Up is program. I moved it to program, selected the new number, moved it back down. Note there are some delays where if you hit "any number" the door opens or shuts. Use you new number and wait 30 seconds. Then use it again and only your new number will work. I believe the hit "any number" is to stop the door in case of the trapped person or item. There are no electric eyes on these old ones or safety reversal if it hits something higher than the floor. Best of luck!
