I am installing laminate flooring over a crawl space. Previously, carpeting was installed. When we pulled up the carpet, we found they had installed 1/4" luan over the subfloor. This makes for a very nice surface for installing the laminate. In most of the areas, there is a 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch gap from where the luan stops and the wall board molding begins. It seems to be caused by the room not being totally square. We will be using quarter round nailed to the wall board molding.
My question is, is it necessary to put leveling compound in these gaps, or is it okay since it is so close to the wall.
