Backsplash suggestions

We are replacing our backsplash but w Thanhen we removed the existing backsplash, which was laminate over particle board, several gaps of almost an inch between the cabinet backs and the wall were exposed. We were planning to tile the area but that will not cover all the gaps. I'm just planning on adding some additional backing(plywood or cement board) - is that the best fix or does anyone have any better ideas? Thanks. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
