I concur with Henry. Do you remember growing a plant in a petri dish in 7th grade? It would have grown just the same with a piece of weed mat under it. If it's a vegetable, flower, or herb garden your creating, then you'll end up using traditional weeding methods. Which pretty much puts you out there pulling weeds. And I might ad that it's the best weed control in a garden, if you wish to avoid herbicides.
