I think that Trane is made by American Standard. I just found out today that I need to replace my furnace and haven't started shopping around yet, but am pretty sure that I will go for a 2 stage furnace. Our climate zone is very severe, the temperature ranges from 105 to minus 50. With a continuous fan I am thinking that I won't feel the need for an AC in the summer. The upstairs can overheat on summer afternoons but with the fan going all the time, cool air from the basement will circulate around. Anyway, that's my theory. Any comments??

Trane and Rheem are the brands recommended to me. I don't think they are necessarily any better, efficient or reliable than other brands, but they apparently are cheaper to repair.
