I have searched through the questions about skim coating a drywall surface that has been badly damaged by wallpaper removal. The walls are in a room that has strong natural light. I think I am missing answers if they are here. My question is, whether an average person can handle doing this. My many people tell me that I need to hire a professional for this job. It is a very large surface, and we are on a tight budget. I have put up dry wall, and repaired holes in it, but this is a much larger scale. My second question is if it is easier to replace the drywall, or skimcoat the entire surface. We are talking about a surface size of 7'8"x80' minus 3 doorway and a window. The people before us put non-stripable wallpaper up on bare drywall. The damge was done while streaming and scraping it off.
