We are finishing up a family room and have 2 problems. We have a small loft that has created trouble. The staircase access to this room falls right in the middle of the family room. The problem is not the stairs, but the platforms posts. Any ideas on a way to attach the platform to the upstairs beam without those posts, that will pass code? Also, when you reach to top of the stairs, the ceiling fan which hangs from a 48" downrod, is only 6" away. I will assume that there is a safety code issure there? Thanks!
