I'm not sure if this will work, but you might give it some thought. Try prying the fascia away from the rafters about 1/8" to 1/4". Malco Tools makes a Siding Nail Removal Tool that can slip up the gap and snip the nails. The fascia should be able to slide right down from behind the drip edge without damaging it. I have never done this but think about it. You can see the tool at malcotools.com under siding tools.
