Rust mold on walls, floors-everywhere!

When cleaning my mother's old house I find a rust colored "mold"?? on everything. The walls, window sills, doors and all over the hardwood floors. The stuff disappears when washed with TSP and chlorox water but I am concerned about the floors. I can't just scrub oak floors. Any thoughts on what this is and how to permently eliminate it?? Thanks.
