I have a 1999 Ford Ranger I just bought 3 months ago. the truck is a 4x4 and only has 63,000 miles on it and have run into the same problem. at first the valve body gasket broke and then under pressured the 1st gear clutch making it burn up. I even have an extended warranty, 100,000 miles or till June of '05 and the ESP (Extended Service Plan) reps say it was due to misuse. The funny thing about that is there were no metal shavings, particals, or any other sign of undue ware and tear. The only thing they (ESP) has on me (or so they say) it a little dust inside the bell housing, and isn't that funny it is compleatly sealed from the transmission. I work constuction where the roads are not paved, of corse it is going to be "dusty." even if I was going "Off-Roading" what the hell is the point of having the Off-Road package if this is how there going to treat their consumers. I think some thing is wrong here too.
