cover a slate foor

I have a slate foor in my mudroom. Practical, yes, but I hate it. Is it possible to cover this floor with plywood and put something else down. It has a lot of dips and imperfections. Do I have to use a foor leveler first? Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
