Hello,
I have recently acquired an older but never used 220v oven of german make (mid 1980's Gaggenau). We are living in the U.S. and wish to install this unit. The terminals on the back of the oven are labeled from left to right as follows: 1)"L"- black wire 2)"N"- blue 3)Ground - yellow/green. I would also mention that connections 1 and 2 are not grounded to the chassis and 3 is.
Should I be concerned to hook up one of the 110v legs to the terminal labeled "N" and send voltage to it? Is European 220v derived from two split 110 lines as in the states, or does it feed in as 220 on one leg with the other "N" terminal as a neutral, grounded at the panel? Should both hot lines connect to terminal 1) marked "L" and a grounded neutral to terminal 2) marked "N" and then a separate safety ground as well at 3)? I'm stumped with this, although I'm sure the solution is simple, but I do not want to cook the stove!
