Scott, I received your e-mail and you stated that you're having problems with which way to orient the plywood strips (lip). I'm responding here (instead of e-mail) so that others can reference the info. Here's what they're saying, using the "same ¾inch plywood" cut strips 3-4 inches wide to form the drip edge (lip). What you're wanting to acheive is a ¾inch lip around the top creating a total thickness of 1½ inches. So the orientation is ¾top secured to ¾lip for a total thickness of 1¾
