For a nice faux wood look: after you prime use Rustoleum yellow paint. The pale yellow. Then paint over that with Mixwax gel stain. Get a graining tool and make the gel stain look like wood grain. I did this in my basement and it looked great until the paint fell off the duct work. I'm guessing either I didn't prep the surface properly, I didn't use primer or that the hot air caused the paint to expand and crack.
