drywall primer

Bare drywall should be primed with a good quality latex based primer, not oil, (oil will make your drywall fuzzy), buy the best you can afford, it will make a huge difference in the final appearance of your topcoat, especially if you are using paint that has a sheen to it, satin, egshell or semi-gloss. A good primer will provide a uniform surface, (even up the drywall, the mud joints and the places where your sanding has gone over onto the drywall paper) and make getting a good looking topcoat much easier! Classic Primer from Sherwin-Williams is some of the best on the market.
