Help, have a well and septic system, water heater is 17 years old, works well, have a new water softener and the water is soft. Have rust coming from somewhere, my tub has rust color on the bottom of tub as well as lining on the shower curtain. Towels (white) will have streaks of rust on clothes after washing in hot water. Affecting my blond hair as well (turning gold). Plumber and expert says not the water softener but not sure what it could be coming from? Very frustrated. Will be putting in a new Water Heater. Could it be the pipes? The Well or do we need an Iron Filter even though the water tested soft and showed no iron. Don't know where to go to get help? Plumber is confused too. Thanks for any possible solutions.
