Vinyl Siding/ Windows/ Wet walls??

Please tell me I'm missing something. When I look at the vinyl siding on my home I notice that aroung the windows the siding goes into a U-channel. I'm sure the rain also gets into this channel.This being so,what keeps the water from getting in behind the siding when it reaches the bottom of the window??!! Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
