tiled over cement....now I notice uneveness

Is there anything to worry about now that I have attempted to save money and laid vinyl tile over cement by myself, some sections have some uneveness, not much and not very noticable, but since I did it, I know they are there. Most will be covered by funiture anyway. Should I be concerned? Also after polishing four times, is there anything recommended to (1) get the desired level of shine and (2) get rid of streak marks? Its black commercial tile in my liv rm.
