The Zone valve is easy to change. It is a twist off and Home depot does carry the replacement head. DO NOT Remove it until you have the new one and Replace each wire from the old one to the new one and then Twist the old valve head off and twist the new one on. I had the same problem and a new zone valve fixed it. It will cost you only $50 or so. Make sure that the thermostat is off before you work on the zone valve.
