Here are direct excerpts from the Better Business Bureau and National Assoc.of Waterproofing Contractors <----which was founded by 6 guys who prefer to install inside method,LOL---"We require strict ethics & standards from members"..."We require non-deceptive practices"..."Misrepresentations,untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, insincere offers to sell or service shall not be used"....Oh Really? For some reason(the money they receive from the members) the BBB and NAWC continue to give satisfactory ratings to contrctors who have at LEAST misled and were deceptive to homeowners on what the homeowner needed to correct problem.Just this year I`ve talked with several homeowners who contacted the TV media etc to try and get their money back after they realized they were "Baited,Switched and Sold" work they did not need.I mean Baited "Lied to or misled"..Switched "From fixing 1 or 2 cracks in wall to having entire inside drain tile method installed"..and Sold "At a higher cost, more advantageous to contractor and Salesperson"...Year after year this crap happens and seems to happen more often to Seniors who are alone and have no family to trust and rely on...and are pressured(phone calls galore) into statements like"Hurry and let us begin work and we`ll give you $1,000 off" or "You should let us start before your walls cave in" etc....year after year...yet these Associations do nothing at all and continue to list them favorably...amazing! So when others call to check on a company`s rating they are led to believe some of these companies are so sincere and the best just because they are listed in good standing with these Associations...what a joke! Its all about $$$ folks, period. To be a memebr these companies pay the Assoc`s...the Assoc`s don`t want to lose their"INCOME!"(Why should any good contractor have to pay money to anyone? Shouldn`t their own references, people they`ve done work for be the BEST means to check on what kinda work they do?) And for some reason the media never shines the light bright enough on what is really going on,pisses me off, lol. If these Assoc`s really mean what they say in their own statements for contractor members they themselves would not continue to list them favorably and let the public know which companies are misleading & deceptive.
