GE Washing Machine

We have a GE washer WLSE3150A0WW that run great. But, when it goes into the first rinse cycle it pumps out fine, then when it tries to go into spin it clunks several times and then just sits there until the cycle is over.(Motor and pump still running)Then it continues on to the rest of the cycles. At the final spin cycle, it kicks in perfectly and spins out just fine. (No clunks or noise of any kind) except for the above problem, the machine runs strong and quiet. Please give me some insite into if this could be a timer problem as the transmission seems to do fine otherwise.
