Walk-in handicap bath tubs Posted by Craig D. La Londe on April 2nd, 2004 11:27 AM In reply to Bathing Sytem for the physically Challaged by Craig D. La Londe on April 2nd, 2004 11:04 AM [Go to top of thread]
It appears that the general consensus is that Bath tubs for use by the physically challenged are expensive. No matter what price range a needed product is in managed healthcare, either in home or in a nursing facility, is expensive. The longer a person can remain in their home the better off they will be in the long run financially, physically and mentally. When comparing bathing systems available throughout the market place one must come to the understanding that, in the beginning, it is just a matter of bathing a physically challenged individual. Then real life sets in just around the corner. As a person advances physically, the demand for more than just hygiene care increases. The process of taking a bath gets more and more complicated. Lifting a physically challenged individual is a problem. I understand people liking a walk-in bath tub. However, what will you do with this type of tub when a wheel chair and/or a walker is a necessity for mobilizing an individual? What about the increased risk of hot water burns, decreased eye site and increased arthritis issues? Isn't the point of a handicap bath tub because a person can't stand or lacks balance to step into a shower stall and/or standard bath tub or lacks good dexterity? Please go to www.infracontroltech.com and click on MYCONTROL Bathing System to learn more about a truly useful product that works for the physically challenged. And, works without lifts.
