Electrical Ground

I'm going to spend some time in Asia this year, and I plan to take my desktop computer with me. The electricity there is 220V, so I can either switch my power supply to that setting or buy a step-down transformer to convert, with a UPS battery box in-between (more desirable, I think). But the thing is, I see no ground source in the wiring system. they just use a simple 2-prong setup with no available ground that I can determine. The water supply is provided by a rain-water reservoir and pressure tank on top of the house, and the plumbing is all plastic stuff anyway. Can I just bury some copper wiring into the ground somewhere and tap that into my surge protector strip somehow? Why do I need to be concerned about this even?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Gary
