The timer needs a neutral

In reply to how to replace a single pole bathroom fan with a digital wall timer switch by kevin on April 3rd, 2004 06:44 PM [Go to top of thread]

Most standard switches only switch the HOT connection........

the Timer actually "uses" the current and requires a neutral to complete the circuit.....

"....The old switch has a post/neg/ and ground wire......." NOT Quite....That's the Line/the switched Load and Grnd......

You can do this if you have more (white)wires in the box.........
