Is this a paint to which you add sand to get a texture? Or that has the sand already mixed in? I strongly advise against using it. A sand texture is a knuckle scraper, like stucco. Dangerous to little kids and unpleasant for adults.
This is very old technology. Used to be that was the only kind of texture a DIYer could get. Today you can get aerosol spray texture for a small area, or use a hopper gun and compressor for a large area.
