You can do it the easy way, you mud the whole ceiling and just use a trowel to make a design in the ceiling, you need mud that takes a long time to harden, forinstance 90 this gives you an hour and a half to put it on and make your design, you can get different kinds of trowels that make diffeent designs. deppending on how big your ceiling is thats what kinda mud you will need, also, i've done this before, take your box of mud and take a plastic bag amd bunch it up on the one end and tape the other side so you can hold on to it then just put the bunched end in the mud and hit the ceiling with it, this makes for a very cool effect like little dropping icicles, i've done this before and it takes a long time but looks great when your done...
