Wallpapering over wood wall paneling

I want to wallpaper over wood wall paneling - I have filled in the curves with PolyFil but when I appield the wallpaper, the next morning it was half unglued, would I be able to make a wallpaper paste and rehang the wallpaper? Help - Thanks Lucy
