Hi, Jason. There are some other factors beyond those that Jim-ATS mentioned. Two easy ones are how high is your water table and how much rain do you get. In places like Nebraska where they have a high water table or in places like Washington state where they get a lot of rain, they would probably be very happy just to have their sump pump run twice a day. There are so many local conditions involved that even the best "expert" working for a nationwide company could not possibly tell you what is "normal". "Normal" for you could very well be that the pump runs twice a day. If yours does, and it keeps the basement dry, what is the problem?
