MH, this is pretty easy to do. After you have your finish done, then finish the finish. Lightly go over the poly with either a 3M Scotch-Brite pad (very fine) or with 0000 steel wool and then apply a coat of Johnson's Wax. You don't want to remove anything except the dust bumps with the pad or steel wool and the difference between the "plastic-like" shine and the slightly scratched areas will show you the problems. The wax will cover and blend the fine scratches and add a little more protection to the finish.
