A few years ago I built 22 foot span trusses for a 30 foot long garage I built. I saved a few dollars per truss and ended up with stronger and more consistent trusses than those avaiable from the usual sources in my area. However, I was lucky to have a large, flat area to lay out and fixture for the components. BUT after the job was complete, I said NEVER again. The negative was the extra time it took to build them. I probably took and extra 2 weeks by the time I got the material, cut all the pieces, laid each one out and "manufactured" them. Installing was not a problem since I had only a single story to deal with. You just set them on the wall upside down and spin them with a push pole to the upright position. The Bottom line is, I agree with the other postings on buying manufactured. The few dollars saved per truss is not worth the extra time. Good Luck!
