Stippled Ceilings

I have a 1 3/4 storey house built in 1927. The ceilings are 10 feet high. I would like to stipple them with a rose pattern look. The stippling would be started about 1 foot in with cut-outs around the bay window, etc. I would like to put a gold edging around the cutouts.
Is there a manufacturer that has different patterns for this kind of work? A how-to book? Is this a stippling 101 project or should it left by a professional? Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
