MH, I don't bother about rewaxing most things. Your better half is going to take over maintenance anyway and do it HER way.
If you want a really high shine, there are some things that you can do with lacquer or real varnish to get there (wet sanding with 600 grit paper then rottenstone or pumice, then wax, for instance) but with poly you usually want a less glossy (and less plasticky) look.
You might want to check out a book called Understanding Wood Finishing by Bob Flexner. It is simply the best information around on finishing wood and maintaining wood. Be careful how you use the info about the last part as you might get stuck doing more of that if you tell her that she is doing it wrong and that could cut into YOUR hunting and fishing time.
