Nordyne Gas Furnace Conversion Posted by John Boy on April 10th, 2004 11:29 AM In reply to gas conversion - Nordyne furnace series MG, MM, MS, or MB by Lady18wheeler on April 10th, 2004 12:00 AM [Go to top of thread]
Lady 18 Wheeler
I believe the M in the series denotes for manufactured homes. Generally on these furnaces they have a gas gun and you will have to remove them. Somewhere on these furnaces there is a little cloth bag with a pull string attached near the pilot line tubing or take the electrical cover off on the left side (were the 115 volts enters the furnace.) In this box is the conversion orifices. One for the pilot and the other for the main burner. These will have to be installed. There is also a TAG to denote this appliance has been converted to LP gas. There is a sheet metal screw to hold this tag in place.
On the 24 Volt gas valve is a gas regulator. You will have to unscrew it and reverse it and screw it back into it's place. (gas regulator)
I'm not going to tell you to turn off the natural gas and reconnect with LP gas, and check for leaks with soapy water and look for bubbles,if it's leaking and to turn off the power to the unit before working on it, and you truly understand what you are doing. Because in this point in the game you should already know this, right? Now if there is a little gray area here, don't proceed? A little knowledge is dangerous!
This a decision you will have to make.
If you don't feel you can do this hire a pro. We want to see you driving your 18 wheeler off into the sunset for many more years to come and you retiring and playing with your grandkids. Or fishing in northern Saskatchewan in the summer.

Happy trails to you,

Also you should have a manual showing you how to convert the unit. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
