static electricity?

It sound like you are getting a static electricity buildup when you walk acress the floor to answer the phone. When you touch the phone, the static decharges to the phone, destorying the phone circuit board. The phone can be grounded, sometimes not easy to do. If the floor is carpeted, you can get an anti-static spray to apply to the carpet to eliminate the problem.
