We just installed about 400 sguare feet of Vanguard Tap Tight engineered flooring and are very well pleased. We discovered that the tools recommended do not do the job and we had to obtain heavier tap blocks and pullbars. I now have a question and need help-- We want to install the same flooring in a long hallway that has two 90 degree turns and want the boards to lay longways as they go down each leg of the hall. Each board is 7.5 inches wide and about 47 inches long. We want to have a herringbone pattern where the boards meet at each of the 90 degree turns. Thus we will have board ends meeting board sides in some places and will have to cut grooves and tongues in some of the boards. I have been practicing these cuts but so far have not found a satisfactory method of making the cuts. The saw blades that I have don't have a wide enough kerf to cut a groove that will match the manufactured tongue. The router bits that I have stand upright on the table requiring that I pass the board across the bit in a vertical position. This of course in tough to do with any accuracy. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can solve these problems? Would greatly appreciate any advice. I know that Denis has installed this type flooring in FL and hopes to do the same in AZ.
