most 4" wall tiles have built in spacers, you don't use any spacers at all. If you look at them there are little bumps about 1/32 of an inch or so I think on each. When you stack one on top of the other they are about 1/16 apart, I can't really tell you the exact spacing you end up with but it's the perfect spacing.
