In reply to Rip off? Bathtub faucet leaks to a heavy stream by Saunsaun on April 12th, 2004 01:19 AM [Go to top of thread]

I love the internet! I started searching around, found some info and decided to take the "ball-type" faucet handle apart. While doing this, I noticed that the rubber seat on the hot water side was in pieces. I wondered if this could be the problem. I have an old "Federal" brand faucet, and had a hard time finding information (ever try looking up "federal" on the internet??) In the end, I discovered that the Delta rubber seat is the same size. Went to Home Depot, bought 2 for $1.68, replaced them, re-assembled, turned the water back on and, voila! No more leak.

I also called the plumbing company back and told the owner about my experience. He's sending back my $29.95 trip charge, PLUS the $20.00 tip I foolishly gave his guys!

Thank you all so much for your support. Chalk one up for the good guys.
