Dishwasher drain

Where does your dishwasher drain discharge? It should be going through a trap on a kitchen sink. If you had a plugged building drain from your house to the street, your sink would overflow or other fixtures would not be draining properly. In other words I don't think your building drain is plugged is suggested by someone else.

Does the pump run? If not you will need a new pump or motor, door switch , loose wriing, or timer. That will have to be checked out.

If the pump runs and water still standing in the dishwasher perphaps there is a blockage in the hose. Or some models have a filter in the sump area of the dishwasher and that could be plugged.
