Joe, oak is a great wood and fine for such a project but I would use oak faced plywood for as much of it as possible. I think the first step would be to go to a retail outlet with as many computer desks as possible and just study the designs of the commercial models. If you find one that you like or is pretty close to what you want, ask for a brochure. Depending on your experience level, you might be able to go from there. Draw it out on paper not forgetting to allow for dado's. rabbets, bevels. Watch Norm show you how to build drawers. You can get oak vaneer 7/8" wide from Woodcraft to iron on the plywood edges and don't forget to allow for this also in your dimensioning. Do not use particle board. I ended up with a lap full of computer from a commercial unit built from that. This should take a medium level of equipment and experience.
