While I'm sure it depends on how many layers in conjunction with how long the paint has been on there, I tried Citristrip on some 250+year old doors, etc. and it didn't do much at all (though it did smell wonderful!). Someone mentioned the trusty heat gun here - that was the tool that gave me the best results in stripping a load of woodwork. Also, as mentioned, definitely try to use stripper as sparingly as possible as it is a gloopy mess - BUT - if you apply the stripper, scrape what's scrapable, reapply and repeat this process a few times, you're going to get ALL of that paint off. Do a patch-test with the Citristrip - your paint may respond better than ours. Good luck!
