I have been researching this and am going to do it myself, because its hard to find anyone that knows what they are doing. This is what I have learned.
Use treated 2x4 as your stringers. This keeps the temperature of the wood more constant and keeps it dry underneath. These need to be secured to the porch with concrete lag. Space them 16 to 24 inches, depending on the thickness to the wood floor.
Use a hardwood Like Ipe (aka Brazilian walnut). Its pricey (2-4 dollars per linear foot), but is should last 20-25 years, doesnt need any treatment and can be pressure washed back to its oringinal color. And is doesnt expand or contract much.
Use stainless steel trim screws to fasten the boards to your stringers.
