Mold odor inside wall

I am wondering what to do about a moldy smell coming from an interior wall. It smells like mold but there are no wet spots around the wall, in the basement or any evidence of leaks. The home is only 3 years old. My wife thinks it could possibly be asian ladybugs. I think its mold. Do I need to tear the wall out to check it? The odor is a musty, earthy odor - that tells me its mold.
