My husband and I were shocked at the $1500 estimate we received for bahama shutters for the end of our porch, so we made them ourselves and they are awesome! We went to a local resale store and bought 3 sets of two panel louver doors. We picked older, painted matching doors with a funky style for a TOTAL of $15. Next stop was Home Depot where we purchased 3 black gate hinges. We hung the bahama shutters on the end of our porch for privacy and shade. We did not hook all 3 sets of doors together, but we spaced them with 2" between them and they are so beautiful. Right now we're using 2 foot pieces of bamboo to hold them out from the porch railing, until we can figure out something more permanent, but the bamboo looks cool. Total cost of the project was about $30. Email me at hhendrix70@hotmail.com and put bahama shutters in the topic, if you want to know more.
