We have a 39 year old house with the original tiles in the kitchen. There is a concrete slab underneath and we were told the tiles look like they are commercial tiles used in restarants. They are in good condition not coming up at all. We were told by the contractor doing the job, that the floor will be very hard to take up because it is glued directly to the concrete. They tell us they can install the tile directly over the old linoleum or vinyl(I"m not sure what it is exactly) using some kind of mesh that they put over top of it. I've read that that isn't such a good idea and we could have problems down the line which the contrctor says is not true. Is this true?
