choosing porch railing material

I need to replace my porch railings which were originally made using pine dimensional lumber, two coats of Kilz and oil based paint. Unfortunately, it lasted only 9 years with top coats applied every 3 years. Anyway, I cannot use vinyl since it's not available in the dark color I need. What is the best material to use, which I can paint, to stand up to years of Ohio weather?? Any comments are greatly appreciated. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
