If you got a mercury bulb type thermostat, it will have to be levelled. Use a small torpedo style level and remove the cover loosen the screws that hold the thermostat to the wall and level and re-tighten the screws. If it's a Honeywell "Round" thermostat remove the cover ring, take a small jewellers sytle screw driver loosen the thermostat with the mercury bulb and remove. There are to levelling pins to place your
level on for reference points.
Now another matter some thermostats have a small tin wrench to slip behind the bi-metal coil that holds the mercury bulb. Ther is a small hex nut to fit this wrench on adjust the temperature indicator with the room thermometer indicator. You will have to hold the dial (in the case of a Honeywell Round style thermostat or hold the temperature setting lever) while making adjustment.
The thermostat location is another matter.
The thermostat should not be near a heat source, example, light, seen by direct sunlight. Do not place on than outside wall, or near a door opening to the outside.
if this system was only installed a few months ago, I would phone up the installing contractor. This is his baby. There should be parts and labour warranty. Perhaps the thermostat it's self is crapped-out.
